Shockers Take Series Opener

Game two set for 2:05 Saturday
Wichita- Zachary Daigre collected his first multi-hit game, but Rice was held to just one run as Wichita State took the opener of the weekend series, 5-1 on Friday night.
How it Happened: The Shockers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings, but the Owls' starter Tanner Wiggins settled and held the margin at three runs until the seventh, when the Shockers broke through for two additional runs. Daigre, who was making his first appearance in the starting lineup since February 22, reached on a pair of infield singles in his first two at-bats. In the eighth, he lined a single to right field with one out and came around to score on Paul Smith's two-out single. Carson Khun relieved Wiggins in the seventh with two outs and held the Shockers in place over the final 1.1 innings.
Next Up: The teams will meet in the middle game of the series on Saturday at 2:05 p.m.
