Rice faces Wichita State on the road this weekend
How it Happened: The teams waited over an hour for the persistent showers to clear the area and once the game was underway, Houston scored in each of the first two innings to take an early 2-0 lead. Rice erased that deficit with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Hiram Bocachica Jr. lined a double up the left field line to open the inning and came around to score on an RBI single by Kutter Gage Webb. Webb moved to second on a wild pitch and then scored with two outs on a single by Landis Davila. Houston reclaimed the lead in the fifth on a solo home run by Cade Climie, but Rice knotted the game again in the bottom of the seventh by manufacturing a run without the ball leaving the infield. Pinch hitter Garett Boehm was hit by a pitch and replace by pinch runner Zachary Daigre who immediately moved into scoring position on a balk. He moved to third on a groundout and came home on an infield single by Cole Green. The Owls mounted one last threat in the bottom of the ninth with two outs when Davila and Green were each hit by pitches, but pinch hitter Landon West's drive to left field fell just short of the wall to end the game.
Next Up: The Owls travel to Wichita on Thursday and open a weekend series against Wichita State on Friday at 6:05. They return home to Reckling next Tuesday to host Lamar at 6:35.

- The Owls fell to 24-18 on the season, 13-10 at home, and 7-4 in midweek games.
- Houston has won the Silver Glove Series for the fifth consecutive year.
