HOUSTON – The No. 3-seeded Rice Owls will face No. 6-seeded North Texas in the quarterfinals of the American Conference Championship, hosted on their home courts at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT on Friday, April 17.
Rice enters the tournament with a 14-6 overall record, including a 7-2 mark in conference play. The Owls are ranked No. 51 in the latest ITA team rankings, while the doubles pair of Darya Schwartzman and Uma Bakaityte is ranked No. 53.
Rice earned three American Conference Player of the Week honors this season, with Divna Ratkovic receiving two and Bakaityte adding one.
Francesca Maguina and Nithesa Selvaraj lead the Owls with four match-clinching points each. Ratkovic has secured three, while Bakaityte accounts for the remaining clinchers.
The Owls have previously hosted two conference championships during their time in Conference USA, winning titles in 2015 and 2019.
Wichita State is the No. 1 seed, followed by Charlotte at No. 2. Rice went 0-2 against the top two seeds this season, including a 4-3 loss to Wichita State and a 4-1 defeat to Charlotte.
