Senior Day
Rice returns home for the regular season finale and Senior Day against UTSA. The Owls will honor four seniors: Hailey Adams, Kennedy Clifton, Dominique Ennis and Shelby Hayes.
Regular Season Champions
Rice was crowned the American Conference regular season champion following its win at Temple. The Owls earned their fifth regular season title in program history and first since the 2020-21 season.
Last Time Out
Rice fended off a late Charlotte rally for a program record 22nd consecutive win after a 63-56 win Tuesday night at Halton Arena. Dominique Ennis led the way with 23 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals, while Shelby Hayes added 11 points, 13 rebounds, two assists and a block.
22 In A Row
Rice has won 22 consecutive games, the third-longest active streak in the NCAA DI. The streak broke the program record for the longest win streak (prev. 21 - 2018-19).
100 for Edmonds
Shelley Pennington and Friends Head Coach Lindsay Edmonds earned her 100th career win at Charlotte, tying for the fastest coach to reach the mark in program history. Edmonds reached 100 wins in 157 games.
Clinched
With Rice's win over North Texas, the Owls were the first team to clinch their spot in the American Tournament in Birmingham. Rice has secured the top seed in the tournament with its win over Temple. Only the top 10 teams out of the 13-team conference qualify for the American Tournament.
Weekly Honors
Shelby Hayes was named the American Conference Player of the Week, leading the Owls to a 2-0 week and the American Conference regular season title. Hayes first tallied 19 points, two steals and a rebound on the road against Temple, and followed that with 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal against Tulsa.
Ennis Etched in Record Books
Dominique Ennis became the program's all-time three-point leader during Rice's win over UNLV and currently has 259 career threes. Ennis snaps Nicole Iademarco's record of 198, who was on the team from 2016-19. Ennis's 82 three-pointers last season set the program's single-season record.
Dom Reaches 1,000
Dominique Ennis became the 27th player in program history to surpass 1,000 career points in Rice's overtime win against Illinois State. She is now the third player under Coach Edmonds to reach the milestone, with Ennis' 1,338 points ranking 10th in program history.
Perfect Night for Flores
Victoria Flores was a perfect 16-of-16 from the free throw line in Rice's 70-56 win on the road over Houston. Flores' 16 made free throws are the third most in a single game in school history (record - 18-18 by Holly Jones in 1985).
A New Streak
Aniah Alexis had the nation's longest perfect start at the free throw line this season, opening with a 43- of-43 shooting mark spanning over 20 games. Alexis had her first miss of the season against Temple (1/28). The mark is the best start to a season from the free throw line in program history.
Rice vs. UTSA
This is the 33rd meeting between the two longtime foes, with Rice holding a slim 17-15 series lead. The Owls are 7-6 in games in Houston, but lost the most recent meeting at Tudor Fieldhouse.
Non-con Phenom
Rice's 10 wins during the non-conference slate are tied for the most wins during non-conference play in program history. This is the third time Rice has reached 10 non-conference wins, with the other two being during the 2017-18 and 1992-93 seasons.
Adams Named Servant Leader
Hailey Adams was one of 64 women's basketball athletes in the nation selected to be a Kay Yow Servant Leader Award winner, a prestigious award honoring student athletes who exemplify the values of leadership, selflessness, and service.
Non-conference Schedule
Rice's non-conference features seven teams that made postseason appearances last season, with South Dakota State and Princeton making the NCAA Tournament. Middle Tennessee and UNLV both played in the WBIT, while Incarnate Word, Illinois State (Fab Four) and UT Arlington were all in the WNIT.
Preseason Honors
Three Owls earned preseason All-Conference honors with Dominique Ennis (First Team), Aniah Alexis (Second Team) and Victoria Flores (Second Team) all earning recognition. Rice was selected third in the American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
