HOUSTON – The Rice women's tennis team remained unbeaten against UTSA with an 6-1 victory Thursday at the George R. Brown Tennis Center.

Rice secured the doubles point for the fourth time this season. Divna Ratkovic and Ema Mravcova opened doubles play with a 6-1 win over Aoka Nagasawa and Akari Tomoyose. UTSA evened the doubles matches when Fernanda Martinez and Daniela Chica fell to Celine Absawi and Laia Tarazona, 6-3. Darya Schwartzman and Nithesa Selvaraj clinched the point on Court 1 with a 7-5 victory over Natalia Castaneda and Giuliana Giardino.

Selvaraj secured the first singles point of the match with a decisive 6-2, 6-0 victory over Giardino. Schwartzman followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win on Court 1. Ratkovic clinched the match, defeating Absawi 6-2, 6-2 on Court 2.

Play continued after the clinch. Martinez fell to Nagasawa, 6-4, 6-4, on Court 5. Francesca Maguina earned Rice's fourth singles victory with a three-set, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 win over Tomoyose on Court 3. Chica closed out the match with a comeback 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory on Court 6.

Rice returns to the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Feb. 19 to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
