HOUSTON – Rice women's tennis head coach Elizabeth Schmidt announced the hiring of Jeanette Mireles as assistant coach ahead of the Spring 2026 season.
Mireles joins the Owls after completing a standout playing career at Texas A&M, where she was a four-year letterwinner and helped lead the Aggies to a national championship in 2024.
"We are thrilled to have someone of Jeanette's caliber join our staff," Schmidt said. "She was a great college player and a tough competitor. Her experience as part of a national championship program will be invaluable as she helps guide our players and continues to push our program forward."
Mireles was a key contributor to Texas A&M's 2024 national championship run, earning NCAA All-Tournament Team and SEC All-Tournament Team honors as a junior. She won three singles matches during the NCAA Tournament and was a consistent presence in the Aggies' lineup throughout her career.
She finished her career with a 73-31 singles record, including a 45-18 mark in dual action, and posted a 44-42 doubles record. Mireles reached career-high ITA rankings of No. 105 in singles and No. 43 in doubles in November 2022 and recorded multiple ranked wins during her time in College Station.
She earned her bachelor's degree in agricultural leadership and development with a minor in sports management from Texas A&M.
