COLLEGE STATION – The Rice men's track and field team had several athletes move into the Rice record books during the team's debut meet for the 2026 indoor track season at the Ted Nelson Invite in College Station.
Sultan Bakare finished second in the weight throw with the third-best throw in school history at 21.06m. Cal Abdulky was close behind with a throw of 20.47m for third place.
Christian Edgar had a personal best in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.88s, ranking sixth.
Edward Bocock made his collegiate debut by cracking into the Rice top 10 for triple jump with a distance of 14.34m, ranking ninth all-time.
Post Meet Reaction - Head Coach Jon Warren
"Overall we had several standout performances, highlighted by Sultan Bakare with the third-best ever throw in Rice history for the weight throw. We also had Christian Edgar move into sixth all-time for the 60m hurdles with his first meet of the season. We also had fairly decent showing in the 4x400 and the triple jump. With just a handful of guys making the trip, I thought we did pretty well."
