
Men’s Golf Trio Earns College Sports Communicators Academic All-District

HOUSTON — Blake Benson, Lukas Boandl, and Reggie Zhu have been named to Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced.
Benson, a Business major with a 3.70 GPA, earns the honor for the third straight year. He had a 74.93 stroke average with a career-high eight rounds of par or better, while earning two top 20 finishes. He fired a career-low 67 in the final round of the Ram Masters Invitational, setting career-lows for 36-hole (142) and 54-hole score (209) to tie for 15th-place. He also tied for 16th-place at the All-American Individual.
Boandl is a Business major with a 3.92 GPA. He was named to the AAC All-Conference Team while earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Bremerton Regional. Boandl led the team with a 71.40 stroke average, a -0.26 average vs. par, 22 rounds of par or better, 145 birdies, and 11 rounds in the 60's, which tied the school record. He had three top five, three top 10, and eight top 20 finishes. Boandl won his first career tournament at the Argent Financial Classic, finishing -10 to become the fourth golfer in school history to shoot -10 or better in a tournament. He also tied for first at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic (9/30-10/1) at -12, tying the second-lowest score to par in school history Boandl opened the spring season with a fifth-place finish at the Border Olympics.
Zhu had a 3.74 GPA, majoring in Business. He had a 73.45 stroke average, nine rounds of par or better and three rounds in the 60's, while finishing in the top-20 three times. Zhu had his best finish of the year at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational, where he tied for sixth-place at -8. He tied for 11th-place at the Border Olympics, recording a hole-in-one in the first round on the par-3, 14th-hole.
