
Owls Have Tremendous Weekend at UH and A&M

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team had a great final weekend of competitions before the conference championships, seeing top performances at both the Cameron Burrell Invitational at UH and the Texas A&M Alumni Muster.
The Owls had a tremendous showing in the javelin at Houston, going 1-2-3 with two 70-plus-meter finishes. Aryan Padaruth set a personal best with a throw of 70.99m, the fourth best all-time at Rice, to claim the event title.
Jack Greaves moved into fifth all-time in his collegiate debut with a throw of 70.42m, with Augustus Henry finishing third with a throw of 66.79m.
Sultan Bakare added a personal best showing in the hammer throw to take third, finishing with a throw of 60.07m, the eighth best all-time at Rice.
Marcus Gaitan led the charge in the 800m, finishing first with a time of 1:51.52, while Jackson Moran was close behind to finish sixth.
Christian Edgar finished third in the 100m hurdles (14.03s) and was later fourth in the 400m hurdles (53.68)
Evan Ringwald also finished first in his race, doing so in the 1500m, ending with a time of 3:56.60.
At Texas A&M, Juan Marais took third in the discus, finishing with a throw of 55.07m.
Augustus Henry had a clearance of 2.00m in his first high jump attempts of the season, finishing third.
