
Rice Shines Throughout Twilight Meet

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team had a fantastic day during the 21st annual J. Fred Duckett Twilight Meet with top performances throughout the day and night in front of their home crowd at the Wendel D. Ley Track.
The Owls went 1-2-3 in the 800m, with Evan Ringwald, William Thames and Marcus Gaitan all running sub-1:51 times.
Elliot Metcalf and Jackson Moran continued the strong track showing, finishing first and third in the 1500m. Metcalf set a personal best with a time of 3:44.48 to move to sixth all-time at Rice.
Andrew Murray later took second in the 3000m steeplechase, with Luke DeMahy close behind in fourth.
Over in the hammer throw, Rice claimed three of the top five spots with Cal Abdulky leading the way with a second-place finish. Sultan Bakare and Daniel Sowell added a fourth and fifth-place finish, both with personal best throws to enter the Rice top 10 all-time list.
Augustus Henry and Aryan Padaruth went three and four in the javelin, with Henry with a personal best throw of 67 meters, while Juan Marais finished third in the discus with a throw of 53 meters.
