Four Swimmers Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. — College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) has released its Academic All-District honors for the 2024-25 swimming and diving season, with four Rice Owls being named to the team.
The four Owls honored include Ella Dyson, Ava Hamblett, Arielle Hayon, and Amelia Kane.
ELLA DYSON | BUSINESS / SPORTS MEDICINE AND EXERCISE PSYCHOLOGY
Dyson finishes her junior season with an individual conference championship, earning the 1650 Free Championship during the AAC Championship. She also won two events at the CSCAA National Invitational Championship, earning first place finishes in the 1000 Free and the 1650 Free. She concluded the 2024 calendar year with her second-consecutive CSCAA Open Water Championship. Dyson earned four qualifying times this season, two CSCAA A qualifiers (500 Free, 1000 Free), an NCAA B qualifier (1650 Free), and CSCAA B qualifier (400 IM).
AVA HAMBLETT | BIOSCIENCES - CELL BIOLOGY AND GENETICS TRACK
Ava Hamblett wraps up her junior season with an individual conference championship, winning the 200 Back in the AAC Championship and helping Rice win the 2025 AAC Championship. She also earned a fifth place finish in the 500 Free, and earned several first place finishes in the regular season, including a 100 Back win in the Houston First Chance Meet and a 200 Back win in the Rice Fall Splash to open the season. She earned six qualifying times, including a CSCAA A time (50 Back (200 MR Leadoff)), an NCAA B time (200 Back), and four CSCAA B times (200 Free, 500 Free, 1650 Free, 100 Back).
ARIELLE HAYON | BUSINESS / MANAGERIAL ECONOMICS AND ORGANIZATIONAL SCIENCES
Hayon finished her Rice career with seven of eight possible conference championships in the 100 and 200 Butterfly events, earning both titles in this year's AAC Championship. Hayon posted multiple qualifying times, including two CSCAA A qualifiers (50 Fly, 100 IM), two NCAA B qualifiers (100 Fly, 200 Fly), and one CSCAA B qualifier (200 IM).
AMELIA KANE | POLITICAL SCIENCE
Kane earned three podium finishes during the AAC Championship, including a second place finish in the 400 IM and two third place finishes in the 500 Free and 1650 Free, the last one setting up a Rice sweep in the event. Kane earned several top finishes during the season, including two during the Tulane dual meet (500 & 1000 Free), as well as first place finishes during the Houston First Chance Meet (1650 Free) and Phill Hansel Invitational (400 IM). Kane earned five qualifying times this year, including a CSCAA A qualifier (1000 Free), three NCAA B qualifiers (500 Free, 1650 Free, 400 IM), and a CSCAA B qualifier (200 Fly).
