
Rice Takes Second at Phill Hansel Invitational

HOUSTON — The Rice swim and dive team finished second at the Phill Hansel Invitational, scoring 1,185 points to place just behind host Houston.
Ella Dyson opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:22.18, followed by teammate Ava Portello in second at 16:26.29.
Ava Hamblet added a fifth-place finish in the 200 backstroke. The Owls placed fourth in the 400 freestyle relay, as Avery Karacz, Lizzie Zadel, Reese Cole and Bella Zhang posted a time of 3:20.04.
In diving, Antonina Harned finished fourth on the platform with a score of 223.45, and Morgan Robson placed fifth at 221.35.
Rice will compete next at the CSCAA Open Water Championship on Dec. 13 in Sarasota, Florida.
