
Adams, Hayes Named CSC Academic All-District

HOUSTON – Red-shirt sophomore Hailey Adams and junior Shelby Hayes represent the Rice women's basketball team after being named Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.
Adams has earned All-District honors in consecutive seasons and was also named the AAC All-Academic Team last season. Adams has appeared in 31 games this season, earning 19 starts and leading the team in rebounds with 7.0 per game. She ranked in the top 15 in the AAC in both rebounds per game and defensive rebounds per game. Adams has recorded at least one block in 17 games this season, averaging just shy of one block per game (.9). She set a career-high with 20 points on the road against Gonzaga.
Hayes earned her first Academic All-District honor and was named to the AAC All-Academic Team and the CUSA Honor Roll and Academic Medalist in seasons prior. Hayes has appeared in all but one game for Rice this season, tying a career-high with 18 points and 14 rebounds in a win against Memphis. She was second on the team in field goal percentage at 56% shooting. Hayes also added an 82.9% shooting display from the free throw line.
