HOUSTON - The 66th-ranked Rice Owls men's tennis team will face a ranked conference opponent on Friday evening, taking on the 48th-ranked Memphis Tigers from the Leftwich Tennis Center in Memphis, Tennessee. The match will be happening concurrently with the women's match at the same time, who will also be facing Memphis.
Rice carries a ranking of No. 66 from the ITA into the match, dropping one spot after falling in two close matches against Tulsa and Oklahoma State in the previous two matches. Memphis improved from No. 50 to No. 48 after taking down Wichita State last week.
Rice holds a narrow 5-4 lead over Memphis in the series between the two teams, but Memphis has won the last four matches in the series to cut the lead down. Rice's last win over the Tigers came in 2012 at the Jake Hess Tennis Center.
