Kuzmenok and Czaplinski Advance at ITA Texas Regional

FORT WORTH — Rice men's tennis completed the second day of the ITA Texas Regional at TCU on Friday.

In doubles, Noey Do and Arin Pallegar opened the morning with an 8-3 win over UTRGV's Loic Young and Paolo La Roche. Rafael Botran and Gabriel Porras also earned a victory, defeating UTRGV's Ivo Isqueiro and Camille Chantron, 8-3. The Owls' remaining doubles teams fell in their opening matches.

In singles, Petro Kuzmenok defeated UTSA's Enzo Vargas, 7-6, 7-5, to advance to the next round. He will face TCU's Matthieu Chambonniere at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Tommy Czaplinski also advanced after taking the first set, 6-3, and leading 3-2 in the second when TCU's Maximus Dussault retired due to injury. Czaplinski will face Baylor's Louis Bowden at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The singles main draw will resume at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by consolation matches at 11:30 a.m.
