
Rice Earns Top Five Finish at All-American Intercollegiate

HUMBLE, Texas — The Rice Men's Golf team earned a top five finish at the All-American Intercollegiate, finishing in fifth-place.
With no team shooting under par, the Owls had one of the best rounds of the day, carding a +6 294 to finish at +11.
Senior Raghav Chugh and freshman Daniel Zou tied for 12th-place at even par. Chugh led the Owls with a 71, while Zou carded a 76. Chugh's 71 is his seventh round of par or better this year and the 42nd of his career.
It was Chugh second top 20 finish of the year and the 14th of his career. Zou now has five top 20 finishes this year.
Sophomore Reggie Zhu carded a 72 to finish at +3 in a tie for 21st-place. It's his ninth round of par or better this year and the 18th of his career.
Junior Lukas Boandl tied for 54th-place at +12 after posting a 75, and redshirt sophomore Davis Byrd shot an 81 to finish +14 in a 59th-place tie.
Graduate Blake Benson led the Owls in the Individual Tournament, tying for 16th-place at +12 after carding an 81. Freshman William Johnson carded a 78 to tie for 23rd-place at +14.
Sophomore Braeden Hoyt and graduate Nicholas LI tied for 25th-place at +15. Hoyt shots a 79 and Li posted an 83. Sophomore Jaivir Pande finished in 36th-place at +25 after shooting an 87.
Houston won the team competition at -20, nine strokes in front of Troy. Troy's Jake Springer earned medalist honors at -7, one stroke in front of UH's Chi Chun Chen. Sam Houston's Ethan Dufresne won the individual tournament at -6, five strokes ahead of UNLV's Ben Sawaia and Yale's Sam Davis.
