HOUSTON - One year after the two matched up in Houston, the 43rd-ranked Rice women's tennis team and the 69th-ranked Columbia women's tennis team will meet in New York for another match. First serve is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
Rice carries a 10-4 record into the match on a five-match win streak, most recently knowing off back-to-back ranked opponents in then-71st-ranked UTSA and then-63rd-ranked Princeton. Columbia brings an 8-4 record into the match and on a three-match win streak, taking down Memphis, Michigan State, and Wagner all at home leading into the match.
There are only three matches logged in the series history, with Rice taking two of the three matches. Rice won both matches against the Lions in 2006 and 2007, but fell for the first time in last season's match. This will be the first time Rice and Columbia face off in New York.
