Owls and Trojans
- Rice leads the series 4-0, including a 3-0 record at Reckling Park.
- The schools first met in 2005 as part of the Dell Diamond Classic in Round Rock, Texas, with the Owls winning 12-1 in seven innings thanks to 15 hits. Josh Rodriguez and Tyler Henley each had three hits, while Adam Rodgers drove in four. Josh Geer went the distance, holding USC to four hits.
- The Owls swept a three-game series at Reckling from February 25-27, 2011, needing late-inning magic in all three to pick up the wins.
- Rice scored seven times in the fifth inning of the opener to take a 7-3 lead, but USC evened the score by scoring twice in the sixth and the seventh. Michael Fuda scored on a single by Derek Hamilton to take the lead for good, and Anthony Rendon's two-run homer in the eighth provided insurance.
- Rice took game two by scoring three times in the bottom of the eighth thanks to a pair of bases-loaded walks and an RBI single to win 6-5. Tyler Duffey earned the win in relief while J.T. Chargois closed out the final two outs to earn the save.
- Chargois completed the sweep the following day with a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh and Chase McDowell earned the save with back-to-back strikeouts with a runner at second in the ninth.
