Lee Announces Freshman Class for 2024 Soccer Season

HOUSTON – Rice soccer head coach Brian Lee has announced the additions of six new athletes as part of the 2024 freshman class, the top-ranked recruiting class in the American Athletic Conference and 32nd-ranked class in the nation according to TopDrawerSoccer.
Allie Love (Colleyville, Texas), Camille Quarterman (Norcross, Ga.), Lilly Reuscher (Kansas City, Mo.), Megan Sweeney (Menlo Park, Calif.), Claire Tracy (Menomonee Falls, Wis.) and Dayo Tennyson (Missouri City, Texas) will all be joining the Owls for the upcoming 2024 season.
"We have had some great players and classes come through Rice soccer over the past 20 years but this group checks in as the highest recruiting ranking in program history (32nd by TopDrawer) and the number one class in the AAC for this cycle," Lee said. "As a group, they should add immediate goal scoring, speed on the wings, and winning character while long term adding high-quality leadership as they grow with the program."
Love joins Rice after spending her high school career at Colleyville Heritage, while also playing for Sting Dallas Black Soccer Club. In high school, Love led the Panthers to a 24-1-2 record last season, securing a district and regional title while advancing to the state championship game. Her senior year, Love scored 27 goals and eight assists, earning District MVP and All-State honors. Throughout her career, Love has netted 94 goals.
Quarterman heads to Rice after playing club soccer with Atlanta Fire United SA. During her high school career, she only played soccer her senior year at The Westminster Schools, and led the team with 50 points on 23 goals and four assists. Quarterman was awarded the team's Golden Boot Award (given to the team's top goal scorer) and was named the Most Outstanding Forward.
Reuscher arrives to South Main after playing her club soccer with KC Current, where she was a 2021 ECNL National Champion. During her high school career at Park Hill South, she led the team to a 21-2 record and a conference championship her senior year. Reuscher earned All-Conference and All-District First Team honors, while also being named All-State Honorable Mention this past season.
Sweeney joins the Owls after playing her high school soccer at Sacred Heart Preparatory. During her senior season, Sweeney led Sacred Heart Preparatory to a 15-4-1 record, including a perfect 10-0-0 league record, becoming the first team in school history to go undefeated in league play. Sweeney was named All-Conference First Team her junior and senior years. Sweeney played club soccer for the Silicon Valley Soccer Association.
Tennyson heads to Rice after leading Ridge Point to an 89-5-8 record throughout her four years of high school, while also playing club soccer for RISE Soccer Club. During her career, Ridge Point captured four District 20 6A titles, two Regional III 6A titles, was a 2022 6A state semifinals and a 2023 6A state finalist. Tennyson has amassed 62 goals and 25 assists in her career, including 30 goals her senior season, being named FBISD Female Soccer Player of the Year, THSCA 6A Super Elite Team and TASCO Second Team All-State.
Tracy joins the Owls after leading Brookfield Academy to an incredible four-year stint, including four regional championships, three conference championships, a state semifinalist in 2023 and a state championship in 2021. This past season, Tracy was fifth in points across the state with 115 points on 43 goals and 25 assists and was named the Midwest Classic Conference Player of the Year. Throughout her career she scored 118 goals and 63 assists, amassing 299 points. Tracy is a four-time conference player of the year and a four-time first team all-conference honoree. For club soccer, Tracy played for SC Wave.
The freshman class will be joined by graduate transfers Leah Chancey, Faith Hutchins, Kat Lazor and Taylor Rish as part of the 2024 Rice soccer recruiting class.
The Owls will open the 2024 campaign on Aug. 15 against Texas State at Holloway Field.
