
Hampton, Kerry to Represent Men’s T&F at NCAA Championships

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team will have multiple athletes competing at the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive season, with Ty Hampton (javelin) and Shaun Kerry (hammer throw) heading to Eugene, Oregon for the championship meet. The four-day meet is set to begin Wednesday, June 5, through Saturday, June 8.
Both Hampton and Kerry advanced to the meet after finishing within the top 12 of their respective events at the NCAA West Preliminary two weeks ago.
Hampton was the first to punch his ticket to the championship meet after finishing 11th at the west prelims in the javelin with a throw of 68.98m (226-4). This will be his second NCAA Championship meet and first since 2022.
Kerry later clinched a spot in Eugene after finishing 12th in the hammer throw, securing his first trip to the championship meet.
