Reckling Park: UTSA rallied for four runs in the eighth inning, three of them with two outs, to take a 4-2 decision on Sunday and deny Rice the chance to sweep its second consecutive conference series.
The Details: Rice starter Tucker Alch and UTSA's Ulises Quiroga hooked up in a pitcher's duel for the first seven innings. Alch held the Roadrunners scoreless for 6.1 innings on just two hits and retired seven of the 22 hitters he faced on the first pitch. Quiroga gave up a two-run homer to Ben Dukes in the third but allowed only a single to Dukes and a double by Manny Garza over his final four innings, setting the stage for UTSA's winning rally in the eighth.
Up Next: The Owls go back on the road for their next five games, with a midweek game at Lamar on Wednesday followed by a weekend series at Charlotte, and then a game at Texas A&M on May 7. They return home on May 8 for the final stretch of home games with Lamar (May 8), FAU (May 10-12) and Texas Southern (May 14).
