Tampa, FL: Treyton Rank had four hits and drove in four in the second consecutive game to lead Rice to a 10-6 win over South Florida on Saturday and clinch the Owls' first road series as members of the American Athletic Conference.

The Details: Following their explosive final six innings in Friday night's 13-4 win, the Owls jumped took control with a four-run fourth inning and put the game out of reach with another four runs in the eighth. They opened the scoring with a run in the third without the benefit of a hit. Tobias Motley walked with one out, then stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and came home on a sacrifice fly by Jacob Devenny. After USF touched Rice starter J.D. McCracken for a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, the Owls immediately responded with four runs in their next time at the plate. With one out, Nathan Becker and Manny Garza singled and Eric Correa and Motley drove each of them in with singles of their own and then both scored on a double by Rank. The Bulls scored in the bottom of the fourth but Rank answered with an RBI single in the fifth. USF chased McCracken with its fourth run of the day in the Bulls' half of the sixth, but Davion Hickson quieted their hopes of further production and then retired them in order in the eighth. Rank drove in his fourth run of the game and eighth of the series to ignite the Owls' four-run eighth. Ben Dukes came home to score the eighth run on a wild pitch and Pierce Gallo pushed Rice into double digits for the second-straight game with a double. USF crept to within four with a pair of runs in the ninth before Tom Vincent took over for Hickson to record the game's final outs.

Rice has won five of its last six overall and clinched its last two conference series.
Rice last clinched consecutive conference series in 2019, sweeping Middle Tennessee (4/18-20) and LA Tech (4/26-28).
The Owls have scored in double digits in consecutive games for the first time since 2022 when they defeated SFA 19-3 and Sam Houston 13-5.
The last time Rice scored in double-digits in consecutive conference games was in 2019 when the Owls defeated ODU 14-10 and 11-2 in a doubleheader in Norfolk on 3/30/92

Manny Garza has hit .571 in the series (4x7) and reached base in seven of 10 plate appearances… He is hitting .538 (7x13) in his last four games.
Dukes extended his hitting streak to a career-best 11 games. He is hitting .556 in the series (5x9) and .477 (21x44) during his streak and has four consecutive multi-hit games.
