
Women's Tennis Readies for Home Showdowns Versus North Texas and Charlotte

In Brief: Rice concludes its four-match homestand this weekend at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. The Owls will face North Texas on Friday, March 29, at 1 p.m. (CT) before taking on No. 42 Charlotte on Sunday, March 31, at 11 a.m. (CT). Rice will also serve as the host for a neutral match between Charlotte and North Texas on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m. (CT).

Match Info: All matches are free admission for all fans at the George R. Brown Tennis Center. Live video and results will be available for all of the weekend's matches through Rice athletics, including Saturday's neutral match between North Texas and Charlotte.
The Owls: Rice is 6-8 after posting a 6-1 home win over Tulsa in their lone match last week. The Owls earned the doubles point with wins at the first and second positions of the lineup. In singles action, Rice scored points from the top five positions as senior Federica Trevisan, sophomore Darya Schwartzman, freshman Divna Ratkovic, graduate senior Chie Kezuka and junior Saara Orav all prevailed in the 6-1 victory.
The Opposition: Rice is 13-5 all-time against the Mean Green and has won seven straight in the series, including a 4-0 win in the most recent meeting. This will be only the second matchup in Houston since 2009 and the first since 2021. The Owls are 3-2 at home all-time against North Texas. The Mean Green are 9-8 this season with a 1-3 mark against AAC competition, including a win over then-ranked No. 70 UTSA.
The Owls are 4-0 all-time against the 49ers. The Owls won in the inaugural matchup, 4-0, in Houston on April 17, 2015, and won the most recent meeting on April 22, 2023, by a score of 4-2. Charlotte checked in at 42nd in the latest ITA rankings, the highest ranking among AAC squads, and carries a 14-6 overall record. The 49ers are 2-1 against AAC teams, defeating Wichita State and SMU before falling to South Florida, 4-3, in their most recent match.
