In Brief: Rice women's tennis heads west for a pair of matches in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rice will take on No. 69 UNLV on Friday, March 1, at noon (CT), before facing Northern Arizona in a neutral-court match on Saturday, March 2, at 11:30 a.m. (CT).

Match Info: The Owls will take on the 69th-ranked Rebels on Friday, March 1, at noon (CT) at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Rice will remain in Vegas to take on Northern Arizona on Saturday, March 2, at 11:30 a.m. (CT).

The Owls: Rice is 3-6 this season after splitting a pair of home matches versus ranked competition last week. The Owls defeated No. 61 UTSA, 4-0, preserving the team's perfect all-time record against the Roadrunners. Rice captured the doubles point and received straight-set victories from senior Federica Trevisan, junior Saara Orav and freshman Divna Ratkovic to clinch the victory. The Owls fell to No. 12 San Diego, 4-0, in their second match of the weekend.
The Opposition: Friday will be the first meeting between Rice and UNLV in over 35 years. The two sides met only once previously, with UNLV claiming a 6-3 win in Las Vegas on March 3, 1988. The Rebels are 6-2 this season and are currently riding a six-match winning streak. The Owls are 19-16 all-time against current Mountain West teams.
Rice and Northern Arizona will meet for the first time on Saturday. The Lumberjacks are 1-4 so far this season with a lone victory over UTEP. NAU suffered a pair of 4-3 defeats to Wyoming and New Mexico before losing a pair of road contests at Colorado and Colorado State. The Owls are 1-2 all-time versus current Big Sky teams.
