Sugar Land, Texas — Freshman William Johnson leads a trio of Rice Golf individuals at the HCU Husky Intercollegiate, played at Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land.
Johnson had the best day of his young career, firing rounds of 71-72 to sit at -1 in a tie for sixth-place. They are the first two rounds of par or better in his career.
Sophomore Braeden Hoyt carded a pair of 76's to sit in a tie for 38th-place at +8, and graduate student Nicholas Li is tied for 44th-place at +9 after rounds of 78 and 75.
Middle Tennessee's JJ Zimmer leads the individual competition at -5, one stroke in front of Southeastern Louisiana's Griffin Dorr.
