Abdulky Highlights Strong Open to 2024 Season

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team opened the 2024 indoor season strong at the Leonard Hilton Memorial Invitation at the University of Houston.
Cal Abdulky opened the new season with a bang, setting a new personal record in the weight throw while moving into second all-time at Rice with a throw of 20.89m. Shaun Kerry finished close behind with a third-place showing with a throw of 18.51m. Ese Amata had the top collegiate height and was second overall in the high jump, while Jorge Hinojosa took third in the shot put.
On the track, Rice's 4x400 meter relay team finished second with a time of 3:18.26.
