HOUSTON – For the second-straight year, Rice women's basketball assistant coaches Lakevia Boykin and Nick Grant earned national honors as they were both named to the Silver Waves Media's Top 75 Most Impactful Mid-Major Assistant Coaches list, the organization announced.
The two just completed their second season with the Owls and saw historic milestones throughout the year. Rice opened the 2022-23 campaign with the best start in program history with an undefeated non-conference slate at 9-0. The Owls also had their first postseason berth and win under second year head coach Lindsay Edmonds in the WNIT First Round at BYU.
The Owls also had four victories against schools that are/will be Power 5 next season (at Texas A&M, TCU, Houston and at BYU).
Rice saw two athletes earn All-Conference honors with Ashlee Austin and Malia Fisher being named to the Second Team All-C-USA.
Boykin and Grant are two of four coaches honored from C-USA. Boykin was also named to the Women's Basketball College Association (WBCA) Thirty Under 30 list last season.
