HOUSTON – Rice women's basketball head coach Lindsay Edmonds announced Thursday morning the addition of Sussy Ngulefac as a transfer from Samford. Ngulefac arrives to South Main with two years of eligibility remaining with the Owls.
"Sussy is a tremendous addition to our program. She has been a two-year starter at Samford, a proven scorer and rebounder and at 6-3 she adds great size and depth to our five position," Edmonds said. "Not only is Sussy proven on the basketball court, but she also fits right into our locker room and our culture! We are thrilled she is joining our family!"
Ngulefac, a 6-3 center from Lilburn, Ga., joins the Owls after starting in all 30 games for Samford this past season, averaging 11.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 23.9 minutes per game. She reached double-digit points 14 times, including a 22-point performance against UNCG, while also leading the SoCon in field goal percentage 63.3%. Ngulefac added 29 assists, 25 blocks and eight steals and was a SoCon Sports Media Association Third Team selection.
During her freshman season (2021-22), Ngulefac played in all 30 games for the Bulldogs, while earning 23 starts. She averaged 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while playing 21.7 minutes per game and led the SoCon in field goal percentage with 63.9%. Ngulefac added 16 blocks, 14 steals and 13 assists and was a unanimous All-SoCon Freshman Team selection.
Ngulefac will join Layla Conley (San Antonio, Texas/Harlan HS) and Pace Rickard (Grand Rapids, Michigan/Christian HS) as part of Edmonds' 2023-24 recruiting class.
