
Rice Set to Face BYU in WNIT First Round

HOUSTON – The Rice women's basketball team will face BYU in the opening round of the WNIT in Provo, Utah on Friday, March 17 at 8:00 p.m. CT, the organization announced Monday afternoon.
The Owls enter the tournament with a 22-8 record as Rice makes its 15th postseason appearance and 10th WNIT appearance. This marks the first postseason berth under second year head coach Lindsay Edmonds and first since the Owls won the WNIT in 2021.
BYU enters the tournament with a 16-16 record after falling to Gonzaga in the WCC Tournament.
This matchup marks the fourth all-time meeting with Rice and BYU, with the Owls winning the last matchup 65-57 on March 6, 1998. Rice leads the series 2-1.
The second round of the WNIT will begin Saturday, March 18 and conclude Tuesday, March 21.
