ALBUQUERQUE – The Rice men's track and field team wrapped up the 2023 indoor season with Alexander Slinkman representing the Owls at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, NM.
Slinkman tied a personal best in pole vault with a 5.51m (18'1") placing him tenth out of 16 competitors. The mark also earns him Second Team All-American honors.
Post Meet Reaction - Head Coach Jon Warren
"Slink took part in one of the greatest, if not the greatest, pole vault competitions in NCAA history. He matched his personal best and went head to head with some of the best in the world. He had an outstanding competition earning Second Team All-American honors and was a whisker away from first team. He did a super job on a very big stage."
Rice will be back in action Thursday for the outdoor season opener at the Kirk Baptiste Spring Break Invite at the University of Houston.
