Owls Have Several Strong Showings At New Mexico

The Rice men's track and field team had several big performances at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic this weekend.
Alexander Slinkman took fifth in the pole vault while Nick Hicks finished fifth in the weight throw. Elian Ahmar took ninth in the shot put, one of four Rice athletes to finish in the top 25 for the shot put.
Rice had a small showing at New Mexico, with only several athletes competing at the meet, but will return to a fuller lineup next week.
