Owls Have Strong Showing At UH

HOUSTON – The Rice men's track and field team had another strong showing at the Howie Ryan Invitational, the final meet before next week's conference championships.
Alexander Slinkman finished in the top spot for pole vault while Nick Hicks picked up his third weight throw win of the season. Elian Ahmar claimed the top spot for the shot put while Elliot Metcalf claimed first in the mile. Rice saw 14 top 10 finishes, with eight being in the top five.
Rice competed with a reduced lineup at UH, but will have a full team showing next weekend.
