Houston: Tulane shook off the loss of the doubles point to edge Rice 4-3 at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Saturday
Doubles: Rice jumped to the early advantage with Santiago Navarro and Campbell Salmon rolled to a 6-2 win at the second line, but the remaining two matches were knotted at 4-4 to leave the first point wide open. While Wes Barnett and Trinity Grear held at the first line to go up 5-4, Kabeer Kapasi and Eduardo Morais broke to go up 5-4 and then held serve to give the Owls their sixth doubles point of the season.
Singles: The Green Wave responded to the loss of the doubles point by taking five of six first sets in singles and held their advantage on four of those courts to clinch the match. Emir Sendogan bounced back from losing his second set to win a superset tiebreaker at the first line to improve to 8-1 in dual singles this year. Trinity Grear closed out the match by completing his comeback from a first-set loss to win in three sets at the second line and close the gap to 4-3.
Up Next: Rice will hold a combined dual with Texas A&M at GRBTC on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
