The Owls return home for 713 Night at Tudor Fieldhouse against Texas Southern on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Rice will then be back on the road against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday.

Cold shooting hurt the Owls on the road, falling 67-56 to SFA last Saturday. Rice was led by Destiny Jackson with 12 points while Kennedy Clifton added another 11 points.

Rice allowed only five points in the first half against HCU, marking the fewest points allowed in a half in program history. The Huskies' lone point in the first quarter also marked the fewest points scored against Rice in program history.
Fisher Tabbed for Preseason Honors, Owls Picked Third
Junior forward Malia Fisher was named to the 2023 Preseason All-AAC Second Team. Fisher, an All-C-USA Second Teamer last season, was second on the team with 11.8 points per game while leading the team with 6.3 rebounds per game. She also had a team-high five double-doubles on the season. Fisher had a career-high 22 points, including the game-winning steal and layup against Louisiana Tech. Rice was selected third in the team's AAC debut, finishing behind preseason favorite South Florida and last season's champion East Carolina.
New Season, New Conference
The 2023-24 campaign marks the debut season for Rice in the American Athletic Conference. The Owls joined the AAC on July 1, 2023, after spending 18 years in Conference USA, where Rice won three regular season titles and the 2019 C-USA Tournament title.
