C-USA releases 2022 football broadcast schedule
Rice will play four of its six home football games under the lights at Rice Stadium in 2022 as Conference USA has released game times as part of its broadcast schedule for the upcoming campaign.
The Owls' home and conference schedule features nine appearances on the ESPN platform in addition to a Thursday night prime time appearance on CBS Sports Network at Rice Stadium against UTEP. The fan-friendly evening home kickoffs at the start of the season align with Rice Athletics' "For The Owls" campaign, allowing for a better game day experience during the hotter months of the football season.
Rice opens the season on the road in Los Angeles against USC on September 3 (5 p.m. /PAC 12 Network). The 2022 home campaign kicks off with back-to-back 6:30 starts vs. McNeese State (September 10) and Louisiana (September 17).
Rice and Houston will face off in the 41st Bayou Bucket Classic at TDECU Stadium on September 24 and the Owls open the 2022 Conference USA home schedule the following week by hosting UAB at 6:30.
After road games at FAU (5 p.m. on October 15) and Louisiana Tech (2 p.m. on October 22), Rice returns home to celebrate Homecoming by hosting Charlotte at 1 p.m. on October 29. The Owls will be back in action the following Thursday when they host UTEP at 6 p.m. on CBS Sports Network, their first weeknight home game since 2012.
They return to weekend action for the final three games of the regular season, with road games at WKU (1 p.m. on November 12) and North Texas (1 p.m. on November 26) bracketing the final 2022 home game with UTSA at noon on November 19.
The 2022 C-USA Championship game on Friday, Dec. 2, will air on CBS Sports Network.

This season, Rice debuts the "For The Owls" campaign" which features the first phase of modernization to Rice Stadium. Upgrades for 2022 include new chairback seating, the addition of Flight Deck Loge Boxes (limited availability), and a new south end zone scoreboard, among many other new features.
New tailgating options will be available for reservation in June, but fans can get a head start by purchasing or renewing their season tickets during the month of May. Any season ticket purchaser (new or renewed) through the end of May will be entered to win a Rice Owls Tailgate Party Pack that includes a season-long 10x10 tailgate spot inside of Tailgate Owley and up to $4,000 worth of tailgating food and beverage supplies.
