Men's T&F Qualifies Seven for NCAA West Prelims

HOUSTON - The Rice Owls men's track and field team will be well-represented at next week's NCAA West Prelims in Fayetteville, Arkansas as the NCAA Committee announced on Thursday (5/19) that seven athletes made the final field.
The NCAA West Preliminary meet is one of two regional events, which serve as the first round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Athletes gain entry into the competition by having one of the top-48 best marks of the region (East or West) in their respective events. In order to advance to the final round in Eugene, Oregon, an athlete must finish among the top-12 (per region) in their respective events.

10:00 a.m. - Hammer Throw; Nick Hicks - 30th/63.87m
6:30 p.m. - Pole Vault; Alex Slinkman - 21st/5.30m, Grant Levesque - 35th/5.20m
7:00 p.m. - Shot Put; Elian Ahmar - 36th/18.00m

1:00 p.m. - Discus; Samuel Woodley - 31st/56.48m
2:30 p.m. - High Jump; Ese Amata - 12th/2.17m
