Owls host Middle Tennessee this weekend to wrap up the 2022 home schedule
The Details: Rice opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Austin Bulman doubled home Connor Walsh who had opened the frame with a single. After the Ragin' Cajuns answered with a single run in the second and two in the third, Rice responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third. With one out Nathan Becker doubled and he came home to score one out later on a double by Jack Riedel. Johnny Hoyle followed with a single to score Riedel to knot the game at 3-3, but Louisiana responded with five in the top of the fourth and continued to add over the next two frames. Rice tacked on three runs in the bottom of the sixth on RBI singles by Walsh and Guy Garibay Jr. and a sac fly by Becker.
Notable
- The win was Louisiana's seventh straight in the series with Rice, narrowing the Owls' lead in the all-time series to 17-15
- Bulman's double was his third in the two games of the series and fourth in his last five games. He leads the team with 15 this season.
- Walsh was 3x4 with a double and two runs scored. He is 7x16 in his last four games.
- Becker was 2x2 with a double and an RBI and he has hit in nine of his last 10.
- Drake Greenwood struck out a season-high four in his 2.1 innings of work, his highest total since he fanned five in 2.2 innings at Texas A&M on 3/32/21.
