Riedel homers for second straight game
Ruston: Jack Riedel homered for the second consecutive game and tied his career-high with three hits, but Louisiana Tech roared back from an early deficit to down Rice 9-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The Details: Riedel staked the Owls to a 2-0 lead in the third when he jumped on the first pitch from the Bulldogs' Ryan Jennings after Justin Long reached on an infield single. It was his second homer in of the series and the third of the season. Rice starter Alex DeLeon matched Jennings through the first four innings, blanking LA Tech thanks to a pair of double plays. His second twin killing in the fourth inning kept the Bulldogs off the scoreboard after they loaded the bases with none out. Rice extended its lead to 3-0 in the top of the fifth when Riedel reached on an infield single with two out and scored on a bloop double to right by Austin Bulman. But the Owls would not cross home plate again while LA Tech scored nine times over the last four innings.
