FAU Holds Off Rice
4/2/2022 5:43:00 PM | Baseball
Bulman and Gallo homer for Owls
In Brief: Austin Bulman and Pierce Gallo blasted home runs, but FAU (18-10, 5-3) answered each Rice (8-20, 3-5) challenge with a response of its own to take a 6-5 decision in the middle game of their weekend series on Saturday at Reckling Park.
The Details: Rice spotted FAU a 3-0 lead after two innings but Bulman drew Rice even with a three-run homer to left with two outs in the bottom of the fourth. Bulman's blast was the first of three times Rice would draw even in the game only to see Florida Atlantic answer with a run to retake the lead. Gallo drilled a shot to the top of the hill in left in the bottom of the seventh to knot the game for the final time, but FAU's Tyler Kelder answered with a game-winning solo homer to dead center to lead off the eighth for FAU.
