In Brief: Rice wraps up consecutive weekends on the road by traveling to Tampa to face off against USF and FIU. The Owls will take on the Bulls at 11 a.m. on Friday and face the Panthers at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
The Owls: Rice enters the weekend 11-5 (4-0 in conference play) and ranked 55th in the ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point .
USF: The Bulls as 5-11 this season. This is the 10th meeting between the schools with Rice holding a 6-3 lead thanks to six consecutive wins. They have met each year since 2016 with the exception of a dual in 2020 that was canceled after the season was shut down. Rice won last year's meeting, 4-0 in Miami.
FIU: The Panthers are 13-3 and ranked 42nd this week in the ITA rankings. Rice leads the series 5-3, but FIU took a pair of matches last season. The Panthers edged the Owls 4-3 in the regular season in Miami and then eliminated Rice in the semifinals of the C-USA Championship in Denton. The meeting in Tampa will be the seventh different location for the schools to meet over the eight-match history. They have met twice in Denton during the C-USA Championship as well as in both Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Norfolk Virginia during C-USA Championships and regular-season duals in Miami and Lubbock as well as one each at Jake Hess Tennis Stadium and the George R. Brown Tennis Center.
