Owls travel to Huntsville on Sunday
In Brief: 20th ranked Baylor fought off a Rice challenge in doubles and carried the momentum over into singles to take a 4-0 win over Rice at the George R. Brown Tennis Center on Wednesday.
Doubles: After Baylor took the early advantage with a win at the second line, the battle was tight on the first and third lines. The Bears broke on both courts in the sixth game and held 40-15 leads on their serve in the following game, only to see Rice bounce back to return the break. But Baylor regained the momentum and took the point with a win at the first line.
Singles: The Bears maintained pressure by winning four of six first sets in singles and raced to the clinch with straight-set wins on the fourth, fifth and sixth lines.
Up Next: The Owls will be away from GRBTC the next two weekends. They will travel to Huntsville on Sunday to face Sam Houston and then to Denton next weekend for a pair of C-USA matches with Charlotte and North Texas. They return home to host Marquette on March 18.
