Levesque Wins Heptathlon at Charlie Thomas Invitational

Owls establish eight personal best marks
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Rice freshman decathlete Grant Levesque recorded his first collegiate victory in the heptathlon to highlight the Owls' weekend performance at the Charlie Thomas Invitational, hosted by Texas A&M.
Levesque, from El Paso, Texas, totaled 5499 points in the seven event heptathlon, a mark that currently ranks No. 25 in the NCAA this season and tops in Conference USA. Levesque won the 60m hurdles (8.26) and pole vault (5.00m) while finishing second in the 60m dash (6.99), long jump (6.75m), and shot put (12.36m). Fellow freshman teammate Augustus Henry placed third in the same event, racking up 4939 points.
Reigning C-USA Male Field Athlete of the Week Nick Hicks also secured a top-three finish, finishing third in the weight throw with a distance of 20.17m.
In total, the Owls recorded eight personal best marks including sophomore Ese Amata in the high jump, who placed fifth after clearing 2.10m for the fifth-best mark in C-USA this season.
