Series Notes
• This is the 10th meeting between the two schools, the last nine as members of Conference USA.
• The schools met for eight consecutive years (1 non-conference and seven in C-USA) before the 2020 game was canceled due to COVID-19-related issues.
• The eight-games streak was one of the three longest vs. conference teams (UTEP 21, LA Tech 8) which were each snapped due to COVID issues.
• UTSA leads the series 6-3 (6-2 in C-USA) and has won six straight. They have split the four games played at Rice Stadium.
• The two first met on 10/13/12 in a non-conference game that was part of Rice's Centennial Celebration, with Rice winning 34-14.
• Rice won the initial meeting as a member of C-USA, 27-20 in 2013. Later that season, UTSA's 21-13 win at North Texas broke a tie between Rice and UNT and allowed Rice to capture the C-USA West and advance to the C-USA Championship game.

Closing in Style
Rice has won 12 of the last 14 Senior Day games dating back to 2008 and they are 20-8 at home in the month of November over that same span.
C-USA Finale
Saturday's game will be the final home game for Rice as member of Conference USA. Rice is 59-81(.421) in Conference USA since joining the league in 2005, including a 36-33 record in games played at Rice Stadium, 0-1 at NRG Stadium, and 23-47 on the road. • Cameron Montgomery leads the Owls in rushing with a career-best 452 yards and is averaging 6.5 per carry (70 carries)... The last Owl to have at least 450 yards and average better than 6.5 per carry was Thomas Lott Jr. who averaged 7.3 (98 for 714 yards) in 2003.
• Jack Bradley has set career highs with 24 receptions, 195 yards and two touchdowns (10 for 78 and 1 TD in the last three games. His reception total is the most by an Owls' TE since Connor Cella caught 31 for 302 yards in 2016.
• Christian VanSickle converted all 10 of his field goals this season and is the first Owls kicker since at least 1975 (as far back as the game books are on file) to open the season with 10 consecutive conversions... The school record for field goal percentage in a season is 90.9 by Haden Tobola who hit 10 of 11 in 2018.
• The career mark at Rice is 81.8 by Derek Crabtree (28-33 from 1998-2001). VanSickle has a career mark of 82.4 (14-17) but needs three additional attempts to qualify for the rankings.
• VanSickle has moved into eighth on the Rice career list with 62 career PATs and needs four to vault to fifth.
• Rice rushed for 279 yards vs. LA Tech, the most since they ran for 304 at UTEP in 2017 and the 11th-best rushing total for the Owls in C-USA competition.
Memorable Moments
Top of my head, here are a few memorable moments from Rice's 18 seasons of C-USA home games.
11/19/05-UCF 31, Rice 28. Jarett Dillard catches a 6-yard TD pass from Joel Armstrong, the first of 15 consecutive games he would catch at least one TD (second best total in NCAA history)
11/25/06-Rice 31, SMU 27- Dillard catches a 25-yard TD pass from Armstrong with 4:05 left (his 14th consecutive game with a TD) to put Rice ahead to stay as Rice clinches its first bowl berth since 1961.
11/3/07-Rice 56, UTEP 48- Chase Clement throws for six TD and rushes for two more as Rice outscores UTEP 28-0 in the last 11 minutes to pull out the win.
8/29/08-Rice 56, SMU 27- The Friday night season-opener on ESPN was meant to showcase the debut of June Jones as SMU's coach, but after spotting the Ponies a 13-0 lead Rice roars back behind six TDs from Clement serving notice the Owls would be a contender in 2008.
11/29/08-Rice 56, Houston 42- With both teams bowl eligible for the first time when playing for the Bayou Bucket, the Owls dash Houston's hopes of reaching the C-USA title game in front of over 30,000
11/17/12-Rice 36, SMU 14- Chris Boswell kicks five field goals to outscore SMU on his own and keep the Owls' late-season dash to bowl alive.
11/16/13-Rice 52, LA Tech 14- Rice rebounds from a road loss at North Texas and rallies around head coach David Bailiff, whose father had passed away earlier in the week as Charles Ross sets a school record with five rushing TDs
12/7/13-Rice 41, Marshall 24 Rice rolls over the favored Herd to win its first outright conference title since 1954.
11/24/18-Rice 27, ODU 13 Juma Otoviano rushes for the most yards by an Owl in a C-USA game at Rice Stadium to end Mike Bloomgren's first season with a conference home win.
11/23/19-Rice 20, UNT 14 Treshawn Chamberlain's breakup of a Mason Fine pass in the end zone held off a late Mean Green charge and give Rice the second of three consecutive confere nce wins to end the season.
11/27/21-Rice 35, LA Tech 31 TJ McMahon came off the bench to throw for 191 yards and connected on a pair of touchdowns in the final four minutes to lead Rice to a thrilling 35-31 win over Louisiana Tech and send 26 seniors out with a victory in their final home game at Rice Stadium.
