This is the 15th meeting between the two schools.
• LA Tech leads the series 9-5, including a 5-1 mark in Ruston.
• Rice has dropped five straight in Ruston after a 49-14 win in its first appearance at Joe Aillet Stadium in which the Owls rushed for a school-record 672 yards… Thomas Lott (127), Kyle Herm (115) and Robbie Beck(108) each rushed for 100 yards and the Owls jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back.
• The schools split two non-conference meetings as well as four matchups while in the WAC... The Bulldogs have won six of eight as members of C-USA, with Rice snapping a six-game losing streak with a 35-31 win last year.
• TJ McMahon came on in relief in the second half and completed 12 of 20 passes (one interception) for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns... Trailing 31-21 with 7:54 in the fourth, he drove the Owls 92 yards for a score, connecting with August Pitre III on a 31-yard touchdown, and then hit Cedric Patterson III with a three-yard TD to put the Owls in front to stay with 1:01 left…. The Owls' final drive was set up by a 48-yard punt return by Sean Fresch to the Bulldog 18 with just 1:19 on the clock.
