HOUSTON - Junior All-American thrower Nick Hicks won his second weight throw competition in as many meets with a winning mark of 20.37m Friday afternoon on day one of the UH G5 & Super 22 Invitational.

Hicks bested his winning throw of 19.40m at last weekend's FasTrak Collegiate Challenge and moved into 30th in the NCAA rankings. Freshman teammate Cal Abdulky placed fourth in the same event with a throw of 17.69m.

The Owls closed out the evening strong in the distance events, going 3-4-5 in the mile with Elliot Metcalf (3rd-4:10.76), Andrew Murray (4th-4:16.35), and Hociel Landa (5th-4:16.36) finishing in that order.

Sophomore Travis Dowd concluded the evening with a victory in the 5000m, finishing in 14:53.19.
