Rice Football Announces Game Themes for 2021 Campaign

As excitement continues to build for the upcoming 2021 Rice Football campaign and the return of a complete game day experience inside historic Rice Stadium, Rice Football has announced the game themes for the Owl's six home games this fall.
Rice will host one of its best home schedules in recent history with fan friendly kickoff times as six opponents visit Houston, Texas to face the blue and gray. The 40th Bayou Bucket Classic against Houston will serve as the home opener on Saturday, September 11th with kickoff set for 5:30PM on national television. The remaining five home games will be against Texas Southern, Southern Miss, North Texas, WKU, and Louisiana Tech, which are all set for Saturdays in the fall.
Each of the six home games will feature a centralized theme in addition to other promotions to tie in each of the game days.
Rice vs Houston (Sept. 11 • 5:30PM) – 40th Bayou Bucket Classic and Military Appreciation + #All4HTX Day
In addition to celebrating the 40th match up of the Owls and Cougars on the gridiron, we will celebrate Military Appreciation Day, Rice's annual salute to active military and veterans as we remember the 20th anniversary of September 11th and #All4HTX Day, a recognition of all Houston community heroes who have served throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Promotions: Student Appreciation Day, Football Letterwinners Day: Honoring the 2001 Rice Owls Football team.
Rice vs Texas Southern (Sept. 25 • 5:30PM) – #GoOwls👐 Day
Show off your Rice pride on game day for #GoOwls👐 day! When you join as one, you truly make a difference in the arena of competition. It's an honor to hold up our owl hand signs and experience so many of the 'you had to be there' moments together.
Promotions: Rice Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day, Code Blue Game, Band Day.
Rice vs Southern Miss presented by Wyndham Hotels (Oct. 2 • 5:30PM) – Hall of Fame Weekend
In a weekend full of fun festivities, we will honor the 14 newest members into the Rice Athletics Hall of Fame!
Promotions: 3rd Annual Craft Brew Festival, NASA Space Day, Owlstanding Teammates Day, RFND Day.
Rice vs North Texas presented by IBEW (Oct. 30 • 1:00PM) – Owl Together (Homecoming & Families Weekend)
The Owls return to Rice Stadium for their annual homecoming and families weekend game. Homecoming festivities will combine with Rice Families Weekend for the first ever in-person Owl Together weekend.
Promotions: Trick or Treat Day, Neighborhood Day, Give a Hoot Day, Drug Free Pledge Drive Day.
Rice vs WKU presented by Karbach (Nov. 13 • 1:00PM) – Blue & Gray Day
It's time to fill up Historic Rice Stadium with the Rice Family wearing the Blue & Gray colors to cheer on the Owls to victory! On Blue & Gray Day, it will be a perfect time to truly show the competition what Rice Fight Never Dies is all about!
Promotions: Extra Yard for Teachers Day, Youth Cheer Day.
Rice vs Louisiana Tech presented by Houston Methodist (Nov. 27 • Noon) – Senior Honor
As their careers near completion, we will celebrate our 2021 football seniors during their final regular season home game at Rice Stadium.
Promotions: Texas Celebration & Fall Festival Day, Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Day.
