Final meet before C-USA Championships
HOUSTON - The Rice Owls men's track & field team sent a small contingent of athletes to the annual Tom Tellez Invitational, hosted by the University of Houston on Friday. The meet was the Owls final tune-up prior to next weekend's Conference USA Championships in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Rice had four athletes finish in the top-three, including an individual victory from Matthew Murray in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.17.
Other highlights included a third place finish by Austin Weber in the hammer throw, who established a personal best mark with a throw of 51.93m. Bradley Rozner also earned a third place finish (first collegiately), clearing 2.05m in the high jump. Freshman Ronen Oosthuizen helped the Owls finish the evening strong with the top collegiate time (1:55.34) in the 800m.
