2021 All C-USA Team
Senior Linda Huang and freshman Federica Trevisan lead a group of six Owls who were named to the All-Conference USA Women's Tennis team on Monday. Huang and Trevisan were named to the singles first team, while Anna Bowtell and Michaela Haet were named to the second team and Maria Budin and Diae El Jardi were named to doubles second team. Trevisan was also tabbed for the all-freshman team.
Huang and Trevisan were named to the team by virtue of appearing in the most recent Oracle/ITA national singles rankings (Haung #100th and Trevisan #91).
Bowtell is tied for second on the team with an 11-5 record, primarily at the fourth line (6-2) and is second on the team with four singles clinch points, including one in the 2021 C-USA quarterfinals. She has reached double figures in dual wins for the fourth consecutive year. Haet posted an 8-5 mark in singles (4-3 at the first line, 4-2 at the second) and was 1-1 vs. ranked opponents with three other matches unfinished.
Budin and El Jardi combined to post a 13-5 mark at the first doubles line, the most wins for the Owls by a duo at the first position since Natalie Beazant and Dominique Harmath were 20-6 in 2013. They were 4-2 vs. ranked opponents, all in the top 55 and their four ranked wins are the most since Beazant and Harmath were 6-6 in 2013.
Trevisan leads the Owls in wins (14-2), including a 3-1 mark in C-USA play (2-0 at the C-USA Championship). She is 12-1 at the third line and has won 13 of her last 14 decisions. Trevisan leads the team with five clinch points, including both of the Owls 4-3 wins, as well as the Owls 5-2 win over #25 Arizona State. She is 4-0 in three set matches, including a pair in which she dropped the first set. She has won four of six tiebreakers, one of which clinched the win over Arizona State.
The Owls saw their regular season end with a loss in the Conference USA semifinals and will learn at 5 p.m. today if they will receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship and extend their streak to nine appearances.
