Game Two Set For 2 PM Saturday
The Story
Louisiana quickly struck for three runs on three hits in the bottom of the first inning. Rice bounced right back with three runs in the top of the second to tie the contest, but the Cajuns pushed across two more in the third, one in the fourth and one in the sixth on the way to a 7-3 final. The Owls are now 2-2 on the young season. Louisiana improved to 4-2 overall.
Hitting Stars
Rice freshman Connor Walsh went 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, two RBI, a walk and a run scored. The round-tripper was the first of his career and had followed a RBI single by Bradley Gneiting in the top of the second inning. Gneiting was 2-for-4 on the night for his first multi-hit game of the season.
Coach Bragga Said
"We had some positives and some things we can build on, but bottom line you cannot give up early runs to a good team like that and think that's OK," coach Bragga said. "After we gave up those first three I thought we did a nice job of coming back and getting runs. The focus and urgency shouldn't end there once we tie a game, in fact we should then work that much harder. I am glad we got a couple of the guys back and playing. We can and will play better."
