
Mulkey Selected Co-C-USA Player of the Week

Senior center averaged 19 points and 5.0 blocks over weekend
DALLAS – Rice women's basketball senior center Nancy Mulkey was named the Conference USA Co-Player of the Week after helping lead the Owls to a pair of wins in the team's return to action this past weekend, the league office announced on Monday.
Following a 27-day layoff, Mulkey averaged 19 points while shooting 68 percent from the field to go along with 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 blocks in a pair of wins over the WKU Lady Toppers.
On Friday, Mulkey nearly recorded her second career triple double by posting a third straight contest with 20 or more points (22) to go along with 10 rebounds and a season-high eight blocks. Mulkey was nearly perfect from the field, making 10-of-12 shot attempts in Rice's 64-55 victory.
Then on Saturday, Mulkey helped lead the Owls to their eighth straight win and remain unbeaten in C-USA with 16 points and a pair of blocks in Rice's thrilling 77-74 triumph.
Mulkey, who is a Top-10 candidate on the Lisa Leslie Award watch list, ranks third in the NCAA in field goal percentage (62.2) and is fourth in the country blocked shots per game (3.38).
The Owls (12-1, 8-0) will be back in action this weekend, Feb. 19-20, when they travel to Huntington, WV to face the Marshall Thundering Herd.
